Trucks, Cars, Airplanes and Diggers!

I have concluded that Charlie had a little switch just waiting for the right stimulus. That switch turned on a passionate love for all things that go. The stimulus? The construction equipment that arrived outside our building to re-pave the median. Suddenly, he hears and comments on every airplane that goes over out house, every bus or truck that drives by. And though I have several loves in life that I plan to share with him, I certainly did not teach him this one!

Don't try to read him a book with out a vehicle in it. If the book has several pages with out cars or busses, he turns past them in a hurtty to arrive at the helicopter or truck picture. Then he settles back against my chest, and studies the picture, with appropriate sound effects.

If you could just see the spit that has been flying around this house as he makes his versions of the sounds that rocket ships and firetrucks make! My favorite is the noise he makes for the giant excavator, which sounds for all the world like he's announcing at a monster truck rally. "GIIIIANT EEEEXCAVATORRRR"

Ahh, boys. You can't teach them this stuff. Peter's the same way and after a year of it, I feel as if I have DMV tourettes. Even when I'm not with him, when I see a fire truck, in my head I'm like, "Fire truck!!!!" It's like th edogs on the movie up, who are talking along and are suddenly yell, "Squirrel". I have no idea why boys love things that go, but they do. We literally, "drive truck" on the way to school (drive on the freeway and point out all the different trucks and school busses, and then the construciton equipment at the freeway exit) and "drive choo choo" on the way home (watch the trains shunting cars in the railyard). This is my typical day now. I'm about to make a blog post about the opposite gender though, so watch for what it's like to have a girl. :)

When Caleb was just old enough to crawl, before he had any cars or trucks, he got ahold a shampoo bottle. He started pushing it around the house as if ti was a car driving it on the roads around the house. That's when we thought we should get him some toy cars. We now have what seems like thousands for cars and trucks.

Chloe on the other had only shows intrest in her brother cars so she can put her babies in them. She will carry around a small baby dall in her hand day till night, go to bed with it and wake up with it still in her hand.
