Florida was wonderful. Full of humid warm air--which I love. Charlie saw his first frog.
Had his first bath in a boat.
And had a babysitter for a whole evening, while his Mom and Dad went on....
A DATE!!!!
It was a really fun theater where you order dinner and they bring it to you before the movie starts. Guess which movie we saw?
We also had lots of fun in Jonathan's parent's pool.
Here we are getting C used to the idea of swimming...all ready to go in.
The hot tub was just starting to warm up, so it was like his bath water. A good first step.
Turns out he takes after his dad, he loved swimming!
Especially peek-a-boo.
Boo!
Grandma rented a bumbo ...adults are so silly sometimes!
Some baby with your chips and dip, anyone?
The Marzinke Men
Charlie had lots to say to his Grandpa.
And lots of flirting with Grandma to do.
My personal favorite part of vacation was that Jonathan took Charlie out to see everyone first thing, early in the morning, leaving me to nestle under the down comforter in a silent bedroom---Ahh luxuries of vacation!
Cheers!
We visited the Thomas Edison Estate. Check out the roots on this tree!
My handsome boys.
times 2!
What more could a little boy want than a changing table with wheels and a horn that honks!
Having fun waiting for our tour to start.
Being pictured while picturing--hazards of too many cameras in the party.
Our lovely family!
We had such a wonderful time. Thanks Momm and Dadd!
It was sad to come back to real life...but I guess that is what makes vacation vacation.
Charlie is now four months old, 15.5 pounds, 25inches long and a bundle of constant develoment. In the last two months he has continued to bring joy into our home with his quirky smiles, funny sounds and coy eyelash looks. He has started letting us know when he likes particular activities, toys or sounds--this is so fun.
I don't know if I have mentioned this before but Charlie is an outdoors baby. He loves more than anything else. Now that the weather is warmer, we've been eating dinner out on our balcony almost every night.
He also love Ella. Ella comes to our house in the morning twice a week while her mom goes to work.
Charlie and Ella have lots of fun together.
Going to the park...Charlie is experimenting with the sounds he can make. He has started talking to the trees out the back window when we drive in the car, and to stuffed animal's faces. He loves it when someone is actually sitting next to him to talk to.
Ella loves helping with Charlie. (Every time I feed him she says, "Charlie eats nipples?" and then she pats his bum to help me burp him.)
On the swings....
(Perks of Jonathan working from home is that he can come on outings like this)
Good friends!
After we got back from Florida we re-arranged the office to make it Charlie's bedroom/Guest room. We took the doors off because his changing table fits perfectly in the closet. I'm going to make a curtain to hang over the other opening.
Still need to re-hang the pictures, but you get the idea...
How cute is he? He still hasn't remembered that he already knows how to roll over, but he's developing his fine motor skills at an astounding rate. After he discovered he had hands, we'd occasionally catch him holding a hand in front of his eyes and studying it so intently that it looked like he was drugged out. All that to say, his depth perception still isn't what it could be. Yesterday, I caught him staring out the window and trying to grab the tree branches. In fact, Charlie grabs at everything now--rings, toys, rattles, books we are trying to read him. He especially loves his dad's beard and my mouth.
Our bedroom is now Jonathan's office too.
All these changes in the air...it just shows our little baby is really growing up. He has started laughing. The first time it was to Jonathan doing a nerd dance and saying "Oggly-boogly"...who could resist laughing at that? He had his first food the other day. Now, about four days later, he finally has the hang of what you are supposed to do with non-liquid stuff that gets put in your mouth.
He has grown huge. We can't even pretend he's a newborn any more. The way I can tell is that when you pick him up he is solid--the floppy newborn feel is gone. Under his soft, slowly fattening skin are muscles with a strong will and determination.
My favorite expression is the one he gets on his face when he successfully gets something in his hands and to his mouth--perfect self satisfaction. He still adores bath time. I usually use the washcloth to run water over his belly and legs. He's been trying to grab the stream of water, tracking it with his hands. When we first got married, I used to tease Jonathan about how thoroughly he rinsed and wrung-dry his wash cloth...It turns out the love affair with wash rags it hereditary. When Charlie gets a hold of the washcloth this pleased look spreads across his face. You know he's thinking "yep, i am so good. I sure have got what it takes to get by in this world." And everyone in the room tends to get a bath when Charlie gets a bath these days. He's becoming a kicking machine.
Almost big enough!
Teething symptoms continue...making anything within reach a candidate for teething toy!
There isn't a day that goes by that we don't look at each other over his head and smile in delight.
And that's all for now!
